Search Scope Retrieval Benefits
SAM (SAMPLE) Search against a random portion of the file Provides an estimate for number of expected answers from FULL search. Provides. projections for whether FULL search will encounter any issues and allows user the opportunity to modify query before initiating full search. Provides some answers to review to see what sort of hits will be retrieved.
FULL (FULL) Search against the entirety of the file Obtain the full answer set for a database matching user query.
RAN (RANGE) Search against a specified portion of the file Can be used to overcome certain system limits
SUB (SUBSET) Search against an existing answer set Useful for conducting multiple subset searching using the same answer set, or searching a narrower specie against results retrieved with broader genus.
